Marathon Monday: Calgary Marathon (Week 9 Training Recap)

I’m back. You may have noticed I haven’t blogged much this week. Way too much on my plate and well … I ran – a lot for me. This #RunToCanadaDay streak is just the kick in the butt that I needed. Please come back tomorrow where I post an interview with a runner who has ran every day since 2011.

Week 9:
Monday: Crossfit (morning)
Tuesday: Rest Day with 2K for #RunToCanadaDay
Wednesday: Crossfit (morning) and 12K tempo (afternoon)
Thursday: 25K long run (morning)  and Mobility (evening)
Friday: 5K easy
Saturday: 5K tempo
Sunday: 7K (6×400 metre intervals)

I really wanted to check out the outdoor track at the highschool on Sunday after work. I missed it. Someone on Twitter told me it was a slushy mess but I had to see it for myself. Yup. Slushy mess. Fortunately some kind soul shoveled one lane. My feet were soaking wet before I began. But it felt good to be running around the oval. I felt like a rebel. Not a soul in sight.

Calgary Marathon Training:
Week 16

That’s all for me today. I’ve been super busy. I hope you have a fabulous Monday!

  1. Someone ran every day since 2011?!?! Wow! That track is s slushyess, lol. I've ran a few slushy runs this winter but I think the worst part is over with now. 🙂 great job on training!

  2. Looks like you are getting in some solid training for the Calgary marathon! Nicely done Crystal!!

  3. How did your legs feel doing the 25k after a 12k tempo run? Mine would have been dead!

  4. Great job getting out there on the track despite the conditions, that goes into the "You know you are a runner when" catagory. Great job, you are going to rock the Calgary marathon!

  5. The run streak has been great for me too! Love that someone shoveled one lane on the track – runner's are a dedicated bunch 😉

I wasn't too sure of the streak, but I'm loving it so far, it's really motivating me to get my butt out the door – the nice weather is also helping 🙂

  7. All your training will pay off keep up the good work!!!
Speaking of streaks, Ron Hill has run for 49 years without missing a day. Check it out in the Running Room magazine.
