Getting out of bed was the last thing I wanted to do. I hit snooze on my alarm around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. I stayed up way too late to watch the fight. You know I am boxing fan, right? I haven’t watched a fight in a long time. My coworker Greg bought the fight on pay per view and invited us over to watch the match. It wasn’t the outcome that we wanted but the match was still fun to watch.
Late nights and early mornings do not work for me. I texted Diana to explain that I sucked and I wouldn’t be meeting her in Lacombe. Thankfully she was okay with my last minute cop out.

I had to play catch with studying so I used my free time to put in a few solid hours of course work. It’s been awhile since I ran in the middle of the day and I was looking forward to the sunshine. I bought some SPF 60 and I was raring to run.
Because I ran close to 20K on the Riverbend trails on Saturday, I needed a change of route. I drove to Heritage Ranch. Usually I would run but I had only planned to run between 10 and 12K. I rediscovered the horse trails. I have only run here less than a handful of times in my four years in Red Deer. I have such a short memory about these things.

I think the last time I ran here was when I did the Spartan race. Funny enough this old bib was on a part of the course where the participants had to run up the hill with a sandbag. I can’t believe the bib survived the winter.
I wholeheartedly embraced running in a new place. I didn’t follow any set route because I didn’t know where I was going. I just let my feet and my no sense of direction lead the way.

I came across a few people who were fishing in one of the ponds. Otherwise I didn’t see a single soul running or walking. Bliss. It was nice out be alone with my thoughts.

Oh and there was a lot of this on the trail. Fortunately I did not step into any of it.
What a glorious day.

Too funny the Spartan bib was still out there. I love running the path at Heritage Ranch but never venture back to the horse trails because I'd be afraid of getting myself lost out there all by myself. It's such a pretty trail though. I look forward to running it at the Spartan again this year.
HORSES?!
Those look like awesome trails! great change of scenery too to get out and go to a "new" spot. HA about the bib…those things are indestructible
