Challenge: Squat Away May

You’d think I do enough squats in crossfit. Clearly not otherwise I would not have signed up for a daily squat challenge. Check out the squat challenge on Facebook. 
Alycia and I have signed up for the 30-day challenge. It looks like a lot but we reasoned we don’t have to do all 175 at once (Day 30). We can break them up during the day. I need to work on loosening up my hip flexors and strengthening my core so this challenge comes along at a perfect time. 

We will stand with our legs slightly wider than our hips, stick our butt out and squat below parallel. We will keep our back straight and push our knees out. A pet peeve of mine are the “half squats” that are everywhere on social media. Where’s the depth? I bet it’s fair to say most people have some sort of mobility issue. I can easily get low but it’s the keeping my chest up and knees out. (I blame running).

I am jealous of those super bendy people who can squat like a baby and hang out there for hours. I wish. Damn this modern lifestyle.

  1. Having experimented today, I think my goal at the end of the thirty-one days would be to actually be able to do a proper squat cuz right at the moment, it ain't happenin'!
