75 Hard Day 60

My 75 Hard Day 60 Update: Discipline, setbacks, and the final 15 days

As I write this post, I’m 60 days into 75 Hard. Sixty days of following six daily habits. Sixty days of a love-hate relationship with this challenge.

More than once I cursed this challenge especially when it was -30C with the windchill or I had a setback with my injury recovery. Those were the days when I had to fight the urge to take a DNF.

Two workouts a day, drinking 3 litres of water, reading 10 pages of non-fiction and cutting out alcohol doesn’t feel flashy or extreme on their own. But stacked together, they form a routine that once you’re in, you’re in.

What this challenge has really driven home is that discipline leaves no room for negotiation. Like how strength training has become non-negotiable for my training, this non-negotiable mindset has become the backbone of my 75 Hard experience. I’ve always been the type of person who once I commit to something, I finish it.

Now I’m standing at Day 60, with 15 days left, I’m ready for this challenge to be over, and I can move on with my life. Seventy-five days is a long time to lock into anything.

I truly believe, in order to create new habits and routines, you have to go beyond the random 30-day challenges that are taking over the self-help space.

In my case, I really needed a reset and something to occupy my thoughts while I heal from this dumb glute injury. I’ll definitely keep following such as drinking more water (not necessarily 3.2 litres every day) because I feel more focused and steady.

With 15 days to go of this habit-building challenge, I can see the finish line and I can’t wait to cross it.
