I’m bringing back my summit project this year. I’m going to summit 26 new-to-me summits.
I’m looking at my scrambling and hiking books to come up with a list. I’d rather play it by ear but I already feel like I am behind in the challenge. I’m super excited about this challenge because I feel like I haven’t spent any time in the mountains since I hurt my glute last June.
Taking a strategic approach to Project 26
What I am going to do differently is to plan my peaks around different areas of the Canadian Rockies including Smith-Dorrien, the Icefields Parkway, Crowsnest and Kananaskis.
I need to be strategic because there’s so many mountains, and so little time for outdoor pursuits when you work full time. Likely I won’t get to British Columbia that often so I will focus on areas within two-hour drives.
I want to spend another weekend along the Icefields Parkway, where I can get several new peaks under my belt. So many possibilities!
What’s on your list in 2026? Any recommendations for my Project 26? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
