I have been going stir crazy, bat crazy whatever you call it. I really thought I was going to lose it on Saturday. I’ve had enough with these cold temperatures. Yes, I know I should embrace winter, blah, blah, blah but enough is enough. Where is spring?
Honestly my treadmill has been good to me over the last month. It really depends on the day. Some days I love it. While other days I want to kick it. I’m moody that way.
Last week I ran outside twice. It really, really boosted my spirits and got me over the 50k/week hump.
I am slightly worried that running inside all winter is affecting my endurance. With all the weight training that I am doing, I feel strong. Last week I had my first training session with a personal trainer. I’ll write more about it after a second session.
Sure training/running on the treadmill uses other muscles but it’s all got to come together, right?
On Sunday, I went to Bragg Creek at the spur of the moment. I just had it with the cold and I didn’t think I could handle another entire weekend cooped up. I knew Karen was going snowshoeing so at least someone would know I had frozen to death if I didn’t make it out.
Besides I really wanted to test out my new Qashqai on the highway. (I traded in the Versa for a Qashqai Crossover last week.) The sun was shining and the roads were mostly bare from snow and ice. I had a great drive to Bragg Creek. It’s an even better drive knowing I don’t have a two-hour return drive home.
The parking lot was packed. There was a cross country ski event. Tons of people skiing and snowshoeing. I didn’t see any other runners but it was late when I started.
Karen and I met after for coffee at Cinnamon Spoon. It was a nice way to end a weekend.
I can tell you that running on the treadmill has made my outdoor runs feel so much easier! I don’t know why. It is so mentally hard for me~
running outdoors is much better than a treadmill for me atleast. I get really bored while using a treadmill.
