RWR Picks #3: The Boy who Runs, The Model Health Show, The Happy Pear

How’s 2019 treating you so far? I had several ideas to share with you this week for this week. After giving it some thought, I went with recommendations that inspire or make you think about things a little more deeply. It is THAT time of year.

Let’s do this!

PLAY THAT PODCAST

I’ve been a FAN of The Model Health Show since last summer when I went into marathon listening mode. You’ve probably heard me raving about it. It’s one of the top rated health podcasts on iTunes. You can also listen on Spotify, GooglePlay and Stitcher.

I wasn’t going to highlight the podcast this week but as I was walking at lunch I thought the above episode from last week fit perfectly with this week’s theme. Trust me, once you listen to an episode you will be hooked. Great guests. Interesting topics. Leaves you feeling inspired.

In keeping with food channels …. why not give The Happy Pear a try. I only discovered this duo a few months ago. The twins (get it .. pear) share their love of plant-based whole food cooking and healthy living.

All month they are posting “veganuary” recipes to get you into the spirit of things. Give them a follow on Instagram too. Their stories are amusing.

READ THIS BOOK

Again I had another book in mind this week until I finished reading The Boy Who Runs: The Odyssey of Julius Achon by John Brant. Achon is a Ugandan retired middle distance and founder of the Achon Uganda Children’s Fund. I won’t give away too much of his story.

Achon’s powerful story will force you to put things into perspective. It makes you think about what you’re doing with your life and how you are making a difference. I always feel so guilty when I hear these stories that tell of the poverty and struggles in other parts of the world and even here in North America.

FINAL WORDS

Please let me know in the comments below if you like this new series. As well I would love to hear what you’re reading or what you are listening to. Have a wonderful week.
