My weekend?
No long weekend for me but I made good use of my time. Life is about living, right? I met Rachel for training at the West Bragg Creek Trails on Sunday. We spent four hours navigating the snowy but mostly icy trails. Rachel and hubby Mark are also running Lost Soul in September. It was great to talk training strategy.
I wish all the trails were all like this! No such luck. Windy at times, the weather was pretty decent. There were a few times when I lost all feeling in my fingers because it was so cold. We did a little dance whenever we hit the dirt.
Yup there was this much snow on the trails. At least the sun was shining. I managed to stay upright for most of the run. On the way down, I fell three times. I have huge bruise on my left knee. I landed on my bad shoulder and I am hurting today as I write this. Next time I will wear some grip on my trail shoes.
My legs were a little sore on Monday but I didn’t want to waste the sunshine. I can’t believe it’s February and I am wearing capris! Recovery runs can be tough but they are so worth it in the grand scheme of training.
The lovely Shainna joined me for part of my run at River Bend. Surprisingly my legs were not giving me any grief. It was just my wonky shoulder. I may end up in the clinic later this week if it’s not healed in a few days.
Overall it was a good week in training. I am slowly building mileage, which will be key to my training success. (Need to upload my data from my Garmin, something I have trouble remembering to do.) I’ll be back in the mountains next weekend if the weather holds up.
How was your weekend?
Wow, it’s pretty where you run! I’m sure you can’t wait for spring to clear those trails.
