Focus: Eye on the prize

running

Hello beautiful humans. (That’s my new favourite greeting).

Busy. Busy. Busy.

Focus and sleep were the themes of this week. In order to get in my runs, work, crossfit, yoga and have a life I had to really had to ignore the noise and take a deep breath.

I admitted to myself that I CANNOT do it all without completely going off the edge. It’s about finding that sweet balance, as wise friend once told me. I like filling my days and hours with activity but I don’t want to be too busy that I miss out on the simple things in life.

I ran lots this week with little discomfort. My runs have felt strong and I feel good. I am really looking forward to heading to Bragg Creek this weekend. I need to breathe in the mountain air and find some peace among the beauty.

This week I signed my life away to Red Deer Bikram Yoga. Despite feeling like crying most classes, I really do enjoy my time in the hot room. I love the heat. I have no doubt the yoga will help with my running. I am scaling back on crossfit. It’s about balance, right? I think at this point in my training I need to ensure I give my legs/body the rest it needs.

On the sleep front, I have been forcing myself to turn off devices and to get to bed already. Stuff can wait until the morning. I just love sleeping.

  1. Sometimes it’s hard to find balance, isn’t it? For me, finding balance is pushing back on the demands of my job. That place could suck the life out of a person. Yesterday was a reminder of that. I’m heading out into the cold for a run, hopefully to erase the day from my mind…
