Tried & True: Move that body

Happy Friday gang!

I am so happy the work week is OVER. As usual it’s been busy and stressful. I celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday with a short lunch time walk in the woods. That’s my Earth Day selfie below. Yes, I hugged a few trees while I was out there. It was just what I needed. I am lucky to work only a few blocks from a forest.

Steve and I met for for a speedy run at Riverbend. It was a gorgeous night for a run and an impromptu “children of the corn” photo shoot. I didn’t run a lot this week because I was feeling some pain in my left hip and right legs.

On top of my crossfit WODs, I went to mobility class for the fourth week in a row.  I love mobility classes. This week we worked on ankles and hips. We did a few tests before we got down to business. I failed two of the three tests. I know that my ankle mobility is awful. After all I am a distance runner. I was surprised at how poor my hip mobility was but I shouldn’t have been surprised. It’s all connected. Coach Andrea asked if I sat a lot. Ouch. Some days I don’t realize how much time I spend sitting on my butt. I really must get up and move around more often.

Anyway … long story short, I will add more mobility and stretching to my daily routine. I skipped crossfit this morning but I spent a good half hour working on my hips before I went to work and again after. Success.

Lots of running on tap this weekend. Wish me luck!
