How to be a badass – True Story

While I pretend to be hardcore on Facebook and Twitter I am not so much. Seriously. Tracy and I met for another trail run and hill repeats with Sandy, the makeshift inner tube sandbag. Jeff calls her some Hungarian name but I much prefer the easy to remember and logical, “Sandy.”

Quite frankly the last thing I wanted to do were hills tonight. I was in a lightly grumpy and tired state. But I knew once I hit the trail I would be just fine. There’s nothing like dragging your butt up a super steep hill to boost your spirits (and your heart rate).

I was excited to show Tracy the trail across the street from the “parking lot.” It’s one of my favorite spots to run in Red Deer. I only wish there was a longer route. I warned Tracy we would have a hilly start from the get go. She was a real trooper! I think she loved it because we already made plans to meet again.

We finished our workout with a few hill repeats with Sandy. I admit it was much more fun with company! We took turns carrying the beast up and down the hill. Jeff agree to make us our “own” Sandy if we give him the supplies.

Here’s the quick and dirty sandbagging benefit story:
1) It’s Progressive
2) You can perform just about any barbell or dumbbell exercise with a sandbag
3) It’s dirt cheap
4) You can build muscles that you never knew you had
5) Develops real life strength
