Let’s talk running injury free

I’m not an expert on all things running. Who is? But sharing the run love is part of my daily mission.

When I was invited to speak about cross training and injury prevention to a couple of Room Running groups, I didn’t hesitate to agree. I really, really do not like speaking to crowds. I know that sounds silly because of my line of work. (That’s one reason why I’m in newspapers and not television or radio).

I agreed to speak for 10 to 15 minutes. I thought if can inspire someone, why not? I would just have to get over myself. They are only people after all!

Using my iPad as a crunch, I shared running stories and gave my take on how to prevent injuries. I spoke about how strength training (Crossfit, in particular) has curbed my injuries and made me a stronger runner.

I quite enjoyed speaking to the group. They were filled with that new runner enthusiasm and like sponges soaking up my wise words of wisdom.

Runners are cool. And runners are even cooler when injury free. That was the main message I tried to get across.

Who has inspired you lately?
