Running by feel (without a Garmin)

It wasn’t long before I glanced down at the Garmin on my wrist. Maybe 5 minutes. I shook my head and remembered the battery was dead. I’d run some more. Glance at my watch. Shake my head. It’s been a few days since I last ran. You’d think I would remember to charge the Garmin. Because I was running a familiar 6 km route, I didn’t worry too much about not knowing my pace or distance every minute.

Funny how my Garmin has become since a part of my runs. I remember when I started running I would just run by feel or rather until I thought my lungs would collapse. Sometimes I do get caught up with my whole speed, splits and such. It’s quite funny actually. I am a recreational runner not someone who has a chance to qualify for the Olympics or even win a local race. Crazy.

Anyway this morning I ran by feel. I didn’t think about whether or not I was running too fast or too slow. I didn’t calculate distance. I feel great.  Finding my rhythm came naturally. I just went with it. It was one of the best runs that I have had in awhile. Plus my legs were not complaining one bit. Bonus.

Do you always run with a Garmin or do you run by feel?
