How to make Cashew/Peanut butter in your Vitamix

My cashews and peanuts were calling to me. Today was the day to make nut butter. I’ve been meaning to do this for months. One of the reasons I bought my Vitamix was so I could make my own butters and eat less store bought foods. I am never turning back. After you see how simple it is to make your own nut butter, you will feel the same.I went to the supermarket and bought a 4-pack of small mason jars for $6.99. I am sure I could probably buy them some place cheaper but I was not in the mood to bargain hunt. Last week I bought cashews and peanuts so I was ready to go.

I measured 3 cups – 2 cups of peanuts and 1 cup of cashews – and tossed them into my large Vitamix container. I grabbed the tamper and put it in before I turned on the machine. I’ve read the directions about a zillion times so I didn’t need to consult the recipe book again.

I turned the machine on and turned to variable 1 and moved slowly to 10. I flipped the switch on high and I continued to push the nuts down into the blade with the tamper. It worked like magic. Within 30 seconds, the blades were working on their own and I could see the creamy mixture forming. Magic.

I turned the machine off and removed the tamper for a quick sample. Perfect. And so easy. I made enough for two small jars. I put them in the fridge for storage. I am so excited. I want to try different combinations of nuts. Perfect for Christmas presents.
