I just finished a short run in my sexy new pink sneakers – Saucony’s Peregrine 15. I haven’t run in more than a week so it felt good to be out on the trails again.
You see I did something to all parts of my right leg after a big mileage week. For a few days, I thought it was just tight muscles. When the pain didn’t get any better, I began to panic. I’ve never really dealt with bottom-of-foot or knee pain before. It was all very puzzling.
Then I started to think about what I have done in the past few weeks that may have caused my injury. I have been putting in the kilometres, and staying upright, which is always a win.
But I had a nagging suspicion that my LaSportiva shoes were not the right pair for my feet. A few times after long runs (and even during), I could feel the faint cries coming from the bottom of my feet. Still I ignored the whimpers. I was just happy to be out running.
This week I went to my chiropractor for some work on my feet. He said my calves and feet were definitely stiff. My right foot/knee feel so much better after the treatment. I got in a lot of walking this week but I didn’t get out to run until today.
Pretty in pink: Peregrine 15
I went to Gord’s on Wednesday, and picked up a pair of Saucony’s Peregrine 15. I had a choice of black or pink. I went with pink. I love these shoes – the tread is some of the best out there. However its the durability that have been an issue in the last few models. Saucony says the durability of the Peregrine 15 is much improved.
The shoes felt great at first step. I will be putting them through the paces this weekend. Sinister 7 is coming up soon so I have to get a few long runs in my new shoes. For now I am just grateful to be back on the trails.
