Are you thinking ahead to the spring yet? I know I am excited for new beginnings and no snow. This feels like the longest winter ever but I know my memory is usually short when it comes to winter. Every winter seems like it is the worst until it isn’t.
Let’s get started.
PLAY THAT PODCAST
You know when you have had enough of winter and start listening to gardening podcasts. My work colleague Jennifer put me on to Gardenerd. After listening to an episode about foraging with Erica Wohldmann, I quickly binged several episodes. There’s a wonderful range of topics from seed libraries, sourdough bread to landscaping tips for both the novice and seasoned gardener.
I am finding lately that most podcasts have a corresponding YouTube channel. I like to keep them separate because I want to listen to a podcast when I am running or driving.
READ THIS BOOK
Last year I bought How Not To Die by Michael Greger, the doctor behind Nutrition Facts. It is one of those books that everyone must read. The book is divided into two sections. The first section examines the top 15 diseases in the world. The second section focuses on “the daily dozen” that you should eat every day to help prevent the diseases.
I admit I skipped over a few chapters in the first section. It was interesting but most of it did not apply to me. The second part includes a variety of recipes to get you started. And if you are really moved to make a change in your life, you can download the free Daily Dozen checklist app. It’s really handy and easy to navigate.
