I’m so in love. My Forerunner 935 everything I need in a watch and so much more.The little beauty arrived on Monday. I can’t stop gushing about it and I haven’t even run outside with it yet. You know it’s Alberta and winter. Just about every single day this past week we had an extreme cold weather warning.
You don’t need to tell me twice. Hello Bjorn. I ran on my treadmill all week. I wore my new Garmin inside while I ran. It was pretty accurate matching distance on my treadmill. It’s still off about half a kilometre but I don’t care. I like that I am able to check in with my heart rate and see how hard I am working. The HR monitor is on the wrist!
Over the last few weeks, I discovered the proper technique for running on a treadmill. You have to run fast. Running slow is .. just running slow on a treadmill.
There has been so many advancements in technology since I bought my Garmin 910 XT. Text messages and emails now come to my wrist. This is great because I am generally always on call for work. The watch itself is also very light – it is not as clunky as my old one. I could wear it all day.
So far favourite feature is the weather alerts. Some of you may know my uncanny ability to get caught in extreme weather situations. You may remember the video below from June 2017.
I am still trying to figure out all the features and the buttons. So far, so good. It’s much easier to navigate than my old watch. Next weekend I am running the Canadian River Valley Revenge. Hopefully I will get outside a few times this week so I can test the watch before the race.

As you know, I joined the gym. I need to work on my strength this year as I train for the 100K. I found when I did CrossFit, a few years ago, I was stronger and I never got injured while running. I have started incorporating some Crossfit-inspired/HIIT into my training. I try to get to the gym twice a week. Mostly it’s for the steam room after I work out. I am trying to use my time wisely at the gym. None of this walking around and looking cool. There’s enough of that already at the gym. I am thinking about trying a couple of spin classes too.
