Last weekend I joined Amanda and Patty for a girls’ trip to Canmore. They plan an annual trip with another friend as a way to relax and recharge. Their pal dropped out so they invited me along. I knew it wasn’t an “outdoorsy” weekend because these women only had one thing on their mind – to party and read books.
I love Canmore. I haven’t been in the touristy town in months. It’s such a beautiful place. I mean look at those mountains. We had a good time hanging out, chatting and visiting thrift stores. I did manage to squeeze in one short run with Amanda on Saturday.
The gals were surprisingly very tame. I braced for the worst. We all know how it feels to be the only sober person at a party. We checked out a couple spots and chewed on some roughage. Amanda and I were looking forward to cauliflower wings but the restaurant was all out.
As for me … my running has been going really good. I feel pretty fantastic. I’ve been running a lot in the dark, which is so invigorating. I love it! However, my runs have been quite short – 10K and under. I would really like to get in some longer runs. I am hoping to do just that this weekend.
RIP Gord Downie
Very sad news … we knew it was coming but Gord Downie died earlier this week. I absolutely love The Hip and Gord Downie. I’ve seen them play in both Alberta and Ontario several times. I could listen to the Hip all day long. Such a sad time …
