Training update

Hello from the outside.

I reckon you probably wonder what I have been up to. It’s true. I have been running.

Last week I ran a whopping 65 kms! I know it doesn’t sound like much but I am thrilled that my mileage is finally getting up there. My first race in August will come fast. It’s going to be a tough haul so I have to get the foundation training under my feet.

All week I ran on road. It was good to get in some speedy runs. Next weekend I will be in the mountains and I am excited to get in some solid elevation.

FullSizeRender 48I am starting to finally feel like my old running self. Nothing has been aching or giving me too much grief. (Knock on wood.) It helps that I have some scary goals this season.

My goal is to get up to 80K over the next couple of weeks. There’s going to be some trade offs with yoga and my nightlife but it will be worth it in the end. It’s silly to set goals and not work for them. Set goals by all means but you have to work for them. Nothing drives me more crazy than when I hear someone complain about not hitting a new PR when they did nothing to set the new PR. (Of course you’re not going to get faster if you run at the same pace every single run. Rant over.)

Lately I am so inspired by my runner friends who are setting new goals and smashing them. I love it. I love drinking that positive energy that they are serving. Too often in life we get sucked into other people’s bad moods and negativity. (Guilty as charged.) It’s tough to ignore it and you want to be there for your friends … but enough is enough …. suck it up. (Yes I am a little rambling and off message here with this post.)

The sun is shining.

Let’s be happy and run lots.

  1. Indeed, PRs do not simply come out of a person’s arse, they require a ton of hard work 🙂 But it’s worth it. It’s awesome seeing you back to your sweet running self! How beautiful is the weather just now? Enjoy every moment.
