Breaking up with crossfit … again

I broke up with crossfit … again.

You may have noticed lately that I have stopped posting about my WODs. A couple of months ago I decided to take a break. My shoulder was not healing properly and my body was craving more sleep. I had thrown yoga into my fitness mix and I was feeling overwhelmed.

Don’t get me wrong, I love crossfit. I simply needed to give my shoulder the rest it needed and the rest of my body. I won’t rule out going back in a few months or a year. Trina took one year off from crossfit and simply did Bikram Yoga.

I was turned down when I asked to put my membership on hold for a month. So I decided to simply let my membership run its course. I may have lost $252 for the two months but I feel I have gained so much more. I hate throwing away money but my heart was just not in the early mornings. (Other class times did not work for me.)

I took up crossfit to help with my running and my overall strength. (It helped!) Sometimes it was a struggle to do both – crossfit in morning and run at night. I think it was one of the reasons I felt drained all the time.

Sleeping in over the last bit has felt quite amazing. And my “sleeping in” I mean 6 a.m. I won’t rule out going back to crossfit after the summer. Right now I just need to do what is right for me. (Besides let’s be honest here … I wasn’t exactly throwing up the big weights and at the top of the whiteboard.)

Have you ever broke up with a sport?
