5 Reasons to start running now

What are you waiting for? Running is one of the best kick ass workouts out there. It’s relatively easy – put one foot in front of the other. Maybe one of your goals for 2016 is to start or get back into running. Don’t wait until January. Running is awesome.

Now how many sports can you get away with orange sunglasses? Seriously depending on the race running is a costume-friendly sport. You can dress like gorilla or wear a prom dress. In fact you might even win a prize for your creativity.

2. Kick back and enjoy the view.

I don’t recommend this on all runs or in the winter but sometimes you just need a time out to enjoy Mother Nature or to catch your breath.

3. Visit cool places on your feet.

I love running on new dirt trails and stumbling into new places. (I get lost easily but I don’t mind.) Today’s there’s so many wonderful destination races to choose from.

Running is a serious stress buster. I love the feeling of calm that comes over me during a run. Runner’s high? Maybe.

5. Meet some awesome humans.

I didn’t know anyone when I moved to Alberta save for my coworkers. When I started running, I met some wonderful people and started some great friendships. This picture shows some members of my 13 Miles and Higher running group.
