Run a little, heal a lot

I braved a little rain to run with Diane and Liz in Lacombe on Sunday. Like Diane said “we’re not sugar. We won’t melt.”
But my iPhone likely would so I snapped one quick photo from the safety of the Versa.
We enjoyed a nice 9K run through the soaky trails. We loved it. I was hemming and hawing about running in the rain but I soon got over it. It was longest run in awhile and I felt pretty good. Talking it slow is going to be tough for me. But I know in the long run it is the only thing that I can do.
I mentioned to Diane while on our way to get coffee that we should have breakfast after one of ours. She said, why not right now? Man, oh man, I haven’t had blueberry pancakes in so long. They were amazing!!
Sunday involved more running in the rain. I know some people shy away from the rain. But it is so rewarding. We saw a rainbow! I met Yvonne and a couple of her friends for a 8K. She is doing the Harvest Run in Red Deer next weekend. If I weren’t injured I would consider running. Distances offered are 3K and 8K. But I know myself, I would not be happy just taking it easy for such a short distance. Better to watch from the sidelines.
Coming up this week will be more slow running and crossfit. Let the healing begin!

  1. I pretty much dropped out of the blogging world/social media for awhile (didn't fit in-oh well!!) so am just catching up with your blog. I didn't realize you were going through some injuries Crystal. I'm so sorry-I know you love it run and it's tough to have to watch from the sidelines. I'm hoping that I'll finally have a good season in 2016. I'm sure you will too!
