I am back!
Apart from being bit by a raging dog, I had a great weekend. (More on that later.)
I concentrated on rehab and mobility before and after I ran. It seemed to have done the trick because I was able to run with little discomfort.
On Saturday I ran around my neighbourhood. As you can see from the photos, it snowed. I wore my Salomon shoes which are awesome on snow and ice. There wasn’t a lot of snow but enough that I had to wear long pants and gloves. I don’t know what we did to deserve a second coming of winter.
My right hip was tight for about 4K until I stopped to do a few stretches. It loosen up and I ran another 8K. I felt like I could run for hours. Love that feeling. But I didn’t want to push it so I pushed stop on the Garmin at 12K.
I met Diane in Lacombe for a two-hour run on Sunday. She had to be somewhere at 10 a.m. so we focused on “time on feet” as opposed to distance. I felt much better on the trails than I did last week. It was fun to see the difference a week can make in weather. Look at that snow! At least it wasn’t cold.
Midway into our run, a dog came charging at us from nowhere. Diane began to scream while I stood still to see what would happen next. I love dogs so my first instinct was to stop and let him investigate. As luck would have it the dog ran pass Diane and jumped on me. He nipped at me twice and bit me in the butt. I didn’t realize until much later that his jaws broke skin. I remember the owner, “yelling, don’t worry he doesn’t bite.” Too late, I said. Fortunately we both have had our shots.
Later in the day, I called Health Link for advice. I wasn’t sure what to do because there were puncture marks on my butt. Because both the dog and I had our shots, the Health Link person said I was low risk for getting sicks. Whew!
Despite that minor hiccup, I had a great run. I spent at least 30 minutes doing some mobility and stretching on my hips. It was just a glorious day that I took an hour walk at Riverbend with my Canon. I chatted with a woman who was training for a hiking trip in Arizona. (Nice to chat up strangers now and then!)
I digress … long story short = great weekend for running!
๐ You are one tough cookie! I'll be packing the bear spray for next time.
Thanks! Lol
The snow looks really pretty, though I'm guessing it has overstayed its welcome somewhat ๐ Glad to hear the Hound of the Baskervilles was non-rabid.
lol oh yes! Enough of the white stuff!
Ugh. That's terrible that you got bit by a dog. What breed? I'm always curious when I hear these stories since certain breeds get such a bad rep but so many other breeds can be just as bad.
Glad you still had a good weekend of running.
