Ultra Marathon Monday: Countdown Edition

It’s nearly September. How did this happen? Summer is drawing to a close but it also means Lost Souls is coming up! In less than two weeks, I will be in Lethbridge for my second 50K.

Gulp!

I met a few people in Bragg Creek on the weekend who said the volunteers are the best ever. Can’t wait to soak in the race atmosphere. I had a great time at Moose on Saturday. I wish I lived closer so I could touch the sky more often.

My training has been up and down over the last couple of months. I’ve had some really great runs and others that were flat out yuck. I am ready as I will be for Sept. 6. The Moose Mountain trail run was a great kick in the butt. I am still bummed about missing that 25K in Canmore because of my car. Next year!

I guess I am in taper mode right now. My goal between now and race today are 1) get more sleep and 2) rest my aching feet. All my (somewhat) hard work is over. This will be challenging because being at Moose rejuvenated me. I want more trail! I’ve had enough with the roads. I think that’s why my ankles hurt so much – all that pounding on the pavement.

Now it’s time to kick back and start packing. I have a week off after the race. I am not sure what I am doing. I want to do some hiking for sure. It will be just me and my Versa.

Watch out I might end up in your town.
