5 things you may have missed this week

Crazy has been my theme this week! I’ve been busy with the usual work stuff and training. I also had some unexpected family stuff that took an emotional toll on my head space. Anyway, I thought I would share some stuff, five things specifically, about what is happening in my world.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar was my saviour.
This week – I was a complete wreck. I felt exhausted, bloated and unfocused. All I wanted to do was sleep. We know that wasn’t even a plausible option. I turned to my favourite cure all for a quick fix – apple cider vinegar. You can use ACV for a zillion things but I like to sip some with water to calm my anxiety and for an instant energy boost. Try it. Amazing stuff.
2. I bought three books.

I won free tickets from work to hear Spark host Nora Young at Red Deer College. I finally remembered to pick up her book –The Virtual Self: How Our Digital Lives Are Altering the World Around Us. Can’t wait to read it this weekend. I ordered The New Rules of Marathon and Half-Marathon Nutrition by Matt Fitzgerald and it came on Friday. Finally I picked up Crockpot Vegetarian Recipes (on sale). Lots of reading (and some cooking) on tap this weekend! That’s the problem with books stores – I always leave with more than I had intended to purchase.

3. I bought a $20 bottle of wine on sale.
Usually $15 dollars is my limit. But I was light-headed and hungry when a persuasive wine testing lady poured the wine down my throat and forced me buy the wine. I saved $6.

4. I took naked pictures of myself.

Once upon a time in another province, I could see my abs. My memory is foggy of the when & where but I promise it’s a true story. I took a “before” picture on Monday with the hope one day this pic will be a distant memory. I’m not posting it until I have my “after” picture. I am taking a closer look at my diet in the hopes of dropping 10 pounds. I want to see my abs again this year.

5. I caught Olympic fever.
I love how the Olympics brings out our take no hostages Canadian pride. I geared up with some new “Canada” attire at the Bay before the games got underway. I’ve been trying to watch as many events as possible. We put work aside to watch the women’s hockey team play in the gold medal game. That was amazing! Loved hearing the cheers throughout the building our ladies won! Now let’s see what our men’s team can do on Sunday. (For the record, I am not happy that I have to get up so early to watch the game. It starts at 5 a.m. on Sunday.)
Hug someone you love today, friends. Have a great Saturday!

  1. I have those same Chia seeds! I've felt very similar this week too. I wonder if it's seasonal???

When I read the 'naked pictures…' comment my eyes opened wide for a sec! Then last night I was reading Lauren Fleshman's post about Keeping it real and thought about what a good idea that was. I have a picture of my abs from a few years ago that I use as motivation too. I'm not quite sure where they went!? LOL

  2. I hope that's it. Everyone I know seems to be sick or getting sick too! I read the same post. Sure puts things into perspective.

  3. I would take a selfie of MY abs but I can't figure out how to hold the camera far enough away to get them all in!
Thanks to your "nudity" teaser, Crystal, I only skim-read everything else. Guess I have to go back now…lol

  4. Ha ha 🙂 Take a pic or get your wife too! Great motivator! I posted my picture on my bedroom mirror. Sure motivates me to get moving in the morning!

  5. ACV makes me gag. I can't understand how people just sip it casually. I know it has great benefits and I will sometimes choke down a glass in some hot water when I'm super sick, but I just can't bring myself to do it unless absolutely necessary.

  6. Great to see you blogging still! Amazing work on the running by the way. As for the ACV, I am one that can't manage it either, but release me in one of the book stores? Yeah, I leave broke. 😉

  7. I did not know that about Apple Cider Vinegar. They have capsules too. Think they would work the same?

  8. It's been a crazy stressful week here too, I hope things settle down for you! Good luck with the 'after' pic… my abs are well hidden despite my best efforts, but I'm ok with that 🙂

  9. Awesome stuff! Taking before pictures is hard, but it's great to see the results. Pictures really show it better than just looking in the mirror for some reason. I did that in January, let me tell you… was that ever a wake up call!

Looking forward to hearing more about the marathon nutrition book 🙂
