Not feeling my Sunday run

So my alarm chirps at 7 a.m. I hit the snooze button on my iPhone for about an hour. My pillow kept calling me back to bed. The last thing I wanted to do was run. My body craved lazy. But I knew lazy wasn’t going to get me any closer to my marathon goal so I heaved my butt out of bed. (Plus I knew Brent would be waiting.)
Hello DOMs. My forearms and shoulders were screaming bloody murder. Thursday and Friday’s crossfit workouts had finally caught up with me. I felt wiped. The only good news was that my calves weren’t as tight as they were the day before. I wanted to run long today but I knew there was no way in heck because I felt like crap. (Saturday’s hilly run may have been the culprit).

Brent was waiting when I arrived about five minutes late. We didn’t talk about the distance. We just head out and plotted a looping route. It was a gorgeous day! My legs felt very heavy and my arms were stiff. I was thankful that Brent wasn’t itching to run a long distance. We kept it short and ran 12K at a gross slow pace. Fine with me.

We bumped into A LOT of runners. Lately we have only seen one or two people on our runs. I was happy to see Laura, Liz and Stacey from the Running Room group. It’s been so long since I chatted with the trio. They are in the thick of training for the hypothermic half-marathon. I also ran into Mark who is also training for Calgary and Lost Soul. Great to see everyone out in good spirits! Must be the weather.
Today called for a post-run nap. I slept for about an hour before I joined the living. I had the Super Bowl on while I made two awesome salads, chopped veggies and organised my fridge. I went major grocery shopping on Saturday. I have no reason not to eat well this week. My fridge is stocked!

I whipped up some nut butter in the Vitamix on Saturday. I only had peanuts on hand so it’s straight up peanut butter. So good! (Sorry the pic is a little fuzzy. My iPhone’s camera is not focusing well lately. Must look into this). Peanut butter does not last long in my place. I use it for just about everything – dressings, sauces and dipping my bananas.
I feel so productive!
How was your weekend?

  1. Wow that would be do cool to make my own PB! I have those days too when I feel sluggish and stiff. It usually feel better when I take a rest day. 🙂 I laughed at your 'joined the living' comment, lol.

    1. I think you can make it relatively easily in a food processor! You should try it. Tastes so creamy!

    1. I have a very powerful blender. Just a few cups of nuts and press go! No oils or anything else required. You can also make it in a food processor. So tasty!

  2. The best runs are always the ones when you drag your DOMS butt out of bed and get moving! Sounds like you had a good weekend.
