Make It Yourself: Nut Butter

I love peanut butter. Since I bought my Vitamix last summer, I have never bought a jar. Instead I buy unsalted peanuts and cashews. Then I whip up my own brand of nut butter. It’s amazing easy and tasty! I like that I know exactly what is in the butter. No oil. No salt. No added crap ingredients that I cannot pronounce. Can’t beat that!
Basically all you need is a few cups of nuts. I like to change things up and add different types of nuts like cashews, peanuts, walnuts etc. Just measure and pour into the Vitamix. Put cap on. Get the tamper ready. Press go. (I followed the instructions in the Vitamix guide).

It takes less than two minutes to whip up a wicked and creamy batch. You do not know what you are missing, if you do not make your own nut butter. Friends say it is pretty easy to make in a food processor too. I eat A LOT of peanut butter (on bananas, with apples etc). Love that I can save $$ by making my own (and it’s probably better for me too!).
Do you make your own nut butter? What’s your secret to the perfect batch?

  1. I've never made my own nut butter but it sounds delicious! I don't have a Vitamix, but I'll have to try with a food processer sometime!
