Kylene was our coach this morning. She’s a great motivator and very encouraging. I chatted with her after the WOD about giving us more time to warm up. Usually we’re done our WODs with 15 or 20 minutes to spare. Why not use this time to warm up? I’m glad she was super accommodating because some coaches are not happy with feedback.
The WOD was a killer. I aimed to get 6 rounds and I finished with 6 rounds at 9+7+2. It was challenging to say the least. I was happy I wasn’t the only one gasping for air between rounds. I had some trouble with the hang cleans to start but I worked it out in the end. The push jerks were not fun. And the more I rested with the bar in rack position, the more it hurt. This WOD definitely put a jump into my Friday!
For strength: We worked on power cleans this morning. I’m not terribly efficient with them yet. We were lifting 5×1 at 90 per cent. I always seem to mentally lose it whenever I load more than 75 pounds on my bar. This morning was no different. After a few attempts at 80 pounds, I put the bar down. Besides the mental aspect, I need to work more on my technique. Kylene was good because she doesn’t overcoach or bark instructions why I am lifting.
