Brief Update on my Ultramarathon Training (Blackfoot 50K on May 25)

Rest, elevation and ice does a foot good. I woke up Monday morning with both feet. I fully expected my right foot to fall off when I went to bed Sunday night. Thank Buddha for small miracles.

I did not chance it with a CrossFit workout. Instead I kept my feet up and did some mobility work on my calves and foot yesterday. This morning I knew I had to do something before work. I nixed CrossFit again because getting mileage in is more important right now.
My right foot is feeling so much better. Whew! I still can’t find my iPod so I charged up the old shuffle and took it for a spin. I wasn’t sure how my body would respond to speed because of my long run & the minor hiccup with my foot.

Legs felt great. Foot was fine. Sometimes after a long effort on Sunday, I need about 3 days to recover. That’s exactly when I know I’ve gone out too fast for my LSD. Now that  I am in the higher mileage portion of my training I really need to stay conscious of this. Otherwise I will lose some valuable training time.
My first ultra is only 7 weeks and 3 days away. My feelings change from run to run and from day to day. I’m scared. I’m excited. I’m second guessing myself. Six months of winter has not helped my training resolve either. I’m likely driving myself crazy for no reason. I will get through this, right?
