I just got off the phone with my pal, Audrey. She’s just days away before her first marathon in Canada, the Vancouver Marathon. You should remember Audrey and I ran our first half-marathon together in Vegas and our first marathon together in New York.
We wanted to run our first Canadian marathons together. But life got in the way. So on Saturday Audrey will run Vancouver and in a few weeks I will run Calgary. In October, we’ll kick ass in Kelowna together.
I can’t wait. I am feeling a little lonely about running Calgary alone. I bet Audrey feels the same way about Vancouver. Training is so much more doable when you have a friend in the same training boat.
Audrey has a knee injury. I was worried when she told me about it a few days ago. I don’t want her to get seriously hurt. She was contemplating cancelling Vancouver because of the pain. Fortunately Audrey is one of the smart runners. She went to the doctors immediately. He said she could run her planned 10 miles this past weekend and if she was doubled over in pain then Vancouver probably wasn’t a wise decision.
Audrey said she felt fine after the run so Vancouver is a go. I will be rooting for her to reach her goal and to finish strong and healthy!
