It’s June 1st and the day I kick start (again) my marathon training. Last week was a short rest week after my half-marathon. I went hiking last weekend so that counts as crosstraining. I believe in taking rest so I don’t hurt myself.
I ran a fast 8k tempo run with my coworker tonight. He’s an old runner who wants to get back into it. (And his wife begged me to encourage him to get back into it) He’s aiming for a sub 5 minute kilometre pace. So yeah I am going to be running fast to keep up with him. We’re going to run together once a week to work on speed through tempo runs and a few speed workouts that he has up his sleeves.
I am not going to change my running routine too much. I will still run 3 times a week with a long run on the weekend. Again I will slowly add mileage to get up to the 3+ hour runs before November. Lots of time to improve and to change my diet.
I am so pumped!
