Peace of mind is not the absence of conflict from life, but the ability to cope with it

Driving around the countryside is one great perk of my being a journalist. I mean I don’t drive around the country roads every day. But on those rare occasions, I do mingle with the country folks in the rural communities. Yesterday I went up to a fire north of Red Deer. The photographer had a few assignments along the way so I tagged along. It’s great because I get to see places I would typically not go unless I had a reason or someone suggested the spot.

At the dairy farm, I spoke with one of the owners for quite a bit. Another perk of job – I met lots of interesting people on good days. On bad days … well… (that’s another post).
That’s what I love about my industry the most – meeting new people and hearing their stories. In my writing, I try to tell their stories when I have the opportunity.
I’ve been at my new gig for nearly three months. Things are going fine. But you know me, I am a constant worrier and I fret over the simplest things. Paranoia probably isn’t a good trait for a journalist… heh?
