Thinking on your feet

I will be honest with you. I did not get up at 7 a.m. as planned to run. Instead I dragged my butt out of bed at 9 a.m. I quickly ate and watched the temperature on my iPhone. It was -8. I waited until it warmed up before I headed out.
I found a wonderful route with few interruptions. I ran east on 67th Street until 30 Ave where I turned around. I was pleased to find two very long, progressive hills. A place to do hill repeats! Very excited. The route took me across some river. I noticed an entrance to the Mackenzie Trails and a sign for the Kerry Wood Nature Centre.
I saw two male runners too. I truly enjoyed my run this morning. It was truly lovely. The sun was shining and the the temperatures were warming up. Perfect morning for my long run.
Earlier in the week, I was struggling and I really questioned whether I would be ready for another half-marathon. But I felt really good this morning. I thought about it. Because I added speed to my workout, the shorter runs are going to be tough. I never looked so forward to a long run since I started running. Ha ha
