what women want or at least this woman (or your computer or mine?)

Lucy wants to try speed dating. She’s toyed with the idea of online dating but hasn’t fully committed to the wonderful world of online dating. I don’t judge or question Lucy’s desire to try these avenues for meeting single men. She’s new to Ottawa and hasn’t had luck meeting new people- male or female. It’s too bad because I know Lucy would make a wonderful girlfriend. She’s smart, employed, hot and not afraid of commitment. Hell, I would date her if I weren’t a heterosexual.

Call me old fashioned or a romantic but I have visions of meeting that special somebody across a crowded room, our eyes meet…Okay I’m not that serious, but wouldn’t that be dreamy?

I have reluctantly agreed to try speed dating with Lucy but my head isn’t really into it. Sure I would love to find a partner to hang out with, watch a movie, and be intimate with. I want to meet someone casually,unexpectedly not in a place where everyone is judging you and picking your faults. And that’s how it works.

On the other hand, at least everything is out on the table. At least this way both parties know what you’re getting. (If both parties are being honest.)

Perhaps I am just being shy. Believe it or not the older I get, the shyer I get. Maybe I am enjoying my independence too much to put forth any effort to meet somebody new. In my case, I believe I will meet the right person and what will happen will happen. Or maybe I have met the right person and I (or he) just don’t know it.
