I reached for dark cherries from the frozen fruit section at Supermarket. I grabbed the sliced lemons and limes, which I only realized after I was putting away my groceries.
Drat I thought. What can I do with these? I started to make a basic green smoothie with spinach when at the last moment I threw in a few slices of the frozen lemon and lime.
Wow! I have to tell you. The smoothie was delicious! A perfect blast of sunshine. Hello, winter. Is spring ever coming? So if you need a little zap to get you through another winter day, throw in some lemons or limes into your smoothie.
Let’s also not forget how Vitamin C is a power house vitamin that helps boost your immune system. Exactly what you need in this never-ending winter and cold season.
Like most smoothies, it only takes a few minutes to make and you likely have everything you need in the kitchen. I was worried that the peels wouldn’t blend but my Vitamix did the trick. All signs of the peels were gone. I was left with a zangy, citrusy smoothie. Perfect.
