And just like that the weather changed. I was driving on Hwy 2 just past Crossfield when suddenly I couldn’t see the road. A storm quickly blew in and visibility was near zero.
I turned off at the closest range road. I haven’t changed out my summer tires yet. Driving any further would have been crazy. There was no way I was driving to Red Deer in those conditions.
Gripping the steering wheel tight, I drove home with the music volume turned up high. Thankfully there were few cars on the road, and those on the road were driving to the conditions.
The storm had hit Calgary when I finally parked my car. It was so good to be off the road. Gosh it’s crazy how fast these storms move in.
As it does in Alberta, the weather improved a couple of hours later. I had considered running on the treadmill while it was still stormy. Since it was still early in the day, I knew the snow wouldn’t last long.
I was right. It turned out to be a lovely fall/winter day. I ran along the river to the Peace River and back to my place.
I was still suffering a little post traumatic from the drive yesterday so the last night I wanted to do was be on the highway again today. The mountains would have to wait.
Instead I met Fab for a little dog trot around Bowmont Park. It was a chilly start to the day but I was excited to be outside. I haven’t run in Bowmont for several weeks now so it was a nice change of pace.
So not a very eventful weekend of running. Sometimes neighbourhood runs are just what the self-care doctor ordered. I was disappointed that I couldn’t see my friends in Red Deer but I made the best of the day.
And that’s my uneventful weekend wrap. How was your weekend? Was it snowing in your part of the world?
