I can’t say I will miss the damn dog.
When I pulled up next to Fab in my Qashqai, I noticed Alvis, her dog wasn’t with her. Instead she had a copper coloured puppy. I said what did you do swap your mutt for this one?
She said, no he is gone. Off to a better place.
I thought thank goodness. That dog was a holy terror. The better place? Police dog training in Central Alberta.
Good riddance. That mutt was crazy with a capital C. Fab tried her best with him but she realized he had a higher calling ā sniffing out drugs for the RCMP.
I had to check Strava to see when I last went up Prairie ā August 11. I definitely haven’t been there or anywhere in Kananaskis since I messed up my eye in September. And I can’t remember the last time I saw Fab so I knew I was overdue on both counts.
We enjoyed a lovely stroll up Prairie ā sidestepping icy bits and navigating snowy trails. The first couple of kilometres were mostly dry. The middle bit was challenging to navigate. I feel twice on the way up and twice on the way down. Maybe I should not have left my Katoolas in the Qashqai.
I definitely overdressed.
No wind on the top is always music to my ears. Once we successfully navigated the icy patches, we were good to go. The slipping and sliding made for some good laughs.
We had a wonderful morning chatting and getting caught up with what’s been going in our lives. Crazy how time flies. It’s feels just like yesterday that we were sweeping Iron Legs.
Gosh I love being in the mountains. I’ve been feeling a little down and listless lately so this was the perfect remedy.
Here I will leave you a little bit of the new dog playing in the snow. It was his first trip to the mountains. I think he liked it.
How did you spend your Sunday? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
Qashqai is beautiful. I liked the way you train your dog. Amazing views by the way.
That was a great place! Thanks for sharing your experiences with your dog.
Here is something Iām looking at https://www.braintraining4dogs.com/get-btfd/?hop=taloona. Thanks a lot!
It’s great to hear that Alvis has found a new purpose as a police dog. It sounds like the hike up Prairie was both challenging and refreshing, with some good laughs along the way. The new puppy seems to be enjoying the adventure too. Spending time in the mountains truly is a perfect remedy for feeling down.
