Running: Stress buster

The trails called. It was just what I needed to hear.

I had planned to go to yoga at 7:30 p.m. but I had an incredible urge to go out for a run. (If you read my Running with Rhyno column in the Advocate last week, you know I haven’t had that running feeling in a while.) Most of you know I got a promotion (yay me!) at work. It’s been a great experience but it’s A LOT of work.

We have some exciting new changes happening at the paper so my job (and only my job) has had my full attention. I know my crazy neurotic self is only temporary. I am super excited about leading the newsroom. It’s a tall order but I am definitely up for the challenge.

stress
Running is my go-to stress buster. Sometimes I forget. Tonight all my stress melted away once I hit the pavement. (I didn’t want to drive to the trails.)

What a glorious night. I simply love the change in season. My short run along the Red Deer River was just what my Google doctor ordered. I would really like to get back in the habit of running before work …

Drum roll … Done with races for the year. I skipped a local race on the weekend and I will skip the 50K next weekend in Canmore. I’m simply not in the mood. (Also on the Canmore front, I do not have any place to stay. It’s a long weekend and the hotel prices are crazy high to begin with.) I hate losing my race entry but I know a DNS is better than DNF or DNC.

Going forward I am going to run for fun.

What a concept, right?
