Chocolate anyone? I paced my pal Michelle for a 5K run – Chocolate Chase on Sunday. The run is a fundraiser for a barrier-free playscape, a Rotary Club of Red Deer Sunrise project. Project details below. I never seem to be in town for these fun rights. Despite the chilly weather, we had a great time. Michelle ran a strong race and I chatted and sang the entire way. She told me I was a good coach. I guess she liked my singing.
Our warm up was so much fun. A local jazzercise instructor showed up with some awesome moves to get us ready for the race. I really needed it because I was bloody cold! What a really fun community event. I was happy to chat with some people who I haven’t seen in months. Running brings people together. Oh and the chocolate. (For the record, I didn’t have any because it’s not vegan and I may have taken an extra apple.)
There she goes – Michelle rocked this section of the course. Look at that smile. I loved how she kept going and even passed several people in the final kilometre. This woman has drive and spirit. Michelle played music on her phone for the entire race. With a little practice, I think I can get better at singing while I run. Her playlist needs a little work though …
All in all it was a fun Sunday morning.
