I wish I had something exciting to write about today. I don’t but I wanted to give you a short update on my running progress.
I have been dutifully going to yoga, rolling, stretching and resting. The strength in my right hand/arm has returned and the pain seems to have dissipated in my foot and hip. Mind you I am not convinced I have seen the last of this random injury so I am still taking it slow. I ran a nice 8K yesterday, my first since last week. I felt a little winded (too fast and too much wind) but overall I felt pretty good. I am not going to let this minor roadblock get in the way of my running goals this year.
Iron Legs is just around the corner on Aug. 13 and Lost Souls is not too long after on Sept. 10. Time is ticking and I do not have time for these minor headaches.
I am not going to jump straight back into my high mileage training for a few more days. Meanwhile I am away this weekend for a journalism conference (I can’t wait!). Speaking of work, over the last two weeks I have training for more editor duties at work. I quite enjoy learning new skills but I prefer my early morning shifts than the late nights.
I love my sleep! Oh and I love breaking up the seriousness of work with a little furry, animal play.
Woof.
I’m glad to hear that things are quieting down for you. I need to do my maintenance, ie injury prevention work.
