Loving my new Altras

I am in love with my new Altras.  

My new Intuition 3 sneakers are having their way with me. On a whim I bought a pair after clicking on the Altra spring sale email. My Torins gave me blisters after 20K. The Torins were not on sale so I went with the Intuition.
 

They are not as sexy as the Torins but they seem to be doing the trick on the road. In fact they look like kids shoes. So far, so good and no blisters!  It’s fun trying a new shoe, right? With every shoe, you either love them or hate them. I have friends who swear by them while others turn up their noses. 

So what is the big deal? It’s all about the toe box. Think more space for your toes to move and groove. It’s a bit weird at first and I almost feel like my shoes are too big at times.

According to Altra Running, if the fit is correct, the shoes will likely feel “too big” around your toes, while being secure from the ball of your foot back through the heel.

I bought the shoes specifically for road running. I am happy with my Lone Peak (size 8, regular size) for the trail. But I haven’t run over 25K in them yet so that will be the real test. The shoes are zero drop with various degrees of cushioning. As with most zero drop shoes, there’s a recommended transition phase depending on the level of cushioning. I haven’t had any issues besides the blisters so I am confident that I am not pushing too hard.
