Two things make my head hurt – math and maps. Give me a calculator and a GPS, and you will make me a happy woman. Just ask anyone who has been on a road trip with me. I am a little obsessed with the GPS in my iPhone. I cannot get from point A to point B without hearing the audio directions.
I am useless when it comes with maps, except when it comes to life or death situations or when I am out running or hiking. Go figure.
Any how … I headed to the West Bragg Creek trails on Saturday for a long run.
I had no choice but to make sense of the map. Fortunately the maps are freaking awesome on the trails. There’s a posted map of the route every few kilometres or so. No chance of getting lost! (By the way that’s my biggest fear – getting stranded alone on the trail.)
Cool pic, right? Most of the trail was bone dry! I really lucked out. I didn’t see many other people, save for a few fat bikers, on the trail. It was actually quite refreshing. Sometimes it’s just so nice to be one with nature.
(That’s the snow that I mentioned.) My legs felt pretty solid on the run. I ran parts of the Telephone Loop and somehow ended up on Bragging Rights (bone dry). I enjoyed hail and downhill on the last few kilometres. The weather is so unpredictable in the mountains.
I loved Saturday. It was great start to the weekend. (More in an upcoming post.) Getting away from the city was just what I needed.
All week was pretty awesome in my world of running. I felt strong and confident in my week-day runs. It was a struggle to get them in but I got it done. Building endurance/mileage can be BORING but I am enjoying taking it slow. There is a method to my madness.
You make me want to take up some serious trail running 😉
What a beautiful place to run! I don’t have many trails to run on. It would be a great change of pace.
