Saturday long run: View from my feet

All week I have been looking forward to getting out on the trails. I squeezed in 5 miles at lunch on Friday but it wasn’t enough. I feel like I haven’t been running in years. Crazy, right? I am so excited about training again.

When I don’t run I get a little crazy. I tend to make bad decisions when I am not running or in the right head space. Yes running has become my therapy. So I’ve been on a rollercoaster of bad decision making since I had that stupid car accident in June. I just want to run and be a good person. Is that so wrong?

weather

Anyway, I set out for a two-hour run after yoga. The weather has been so nice lately. It’s crazy not to take advantage of the sunshine, particularly in the long winter months. I didn’t really have much of a route in mind. I never do. My motto is always to go with the flow, in all aspects of my life.

runIt was warm enough for capris. Of course I had to wear bright rainbow-colored socks to match my mood. I didn’t see many people out on the trails. I ran in the middle of the day so I am assuming they were out earlier in the day.

parkI ran by the stone circle in Coronation Park. Beautiful, isn’t it? This is the go-to place for weddings and wedding photos. In the summer months, you will see a lot of people who work downtown eating lunch in this spot. Peaceful.

bridgeLove the colours. This is under the 67th Street bridge in Red Deer.

alleyThis is an alley somewhere in Red Deer. It was a bit slippery but I went slow on the icy spots.

winter runAs I write this post, my right knee is throbbing. (New ache). I ran slow but apparently I did not run slow enough. I am going to take it easy tomorrow and run an even slower run tomorrow, if that is even possible. In a week, I will be running the Hypothermic Half in Edmonton.

The 21 kilometres will be a good test of my endurance and my strength. (Injuries begone!)

How awesome is it that I will get a fuzzy medal at the end of a training run?
