Under Review: Manitoba Harvest Hemp Heart Bars

Manitoba Harvest had me at “plant-based” and “tasty ingredients.”  

I was thrilled for the opportunity to sink my teeth into three flavours of the Manitoba-based company’s hemp heart bars – chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon. I’m not one to pass up a sweet deal especially if it’s from a Canadian company that makes good-for-you and tasty hemp foods. 

In every 45-gram bar, you will find 10 grams of plant-based protein and 10 grams of omegas. That’s all fine and dandy but the real test will be the taste. If it doesn’t temp my taste buds, I definitely won’t be finishing the bar.

Chocolate

Ingredients: Hemp Hearts, organic brown rice syrup, organic coconut palm sugar, organic cocoa mass, organic dutch-process cocoa, organic chocolate flavour, pectin, organic sunflower oil, rosemary extract.

You are right if you guessed I immediately went for the chocolate flavour. I was not disappointed. It tasted great! 

Vanilla

Ingredients: Hemp Hearts, organic coconut palm sugar, organic brown rice syrup, organic vanilla flavour, sea salt, pectin, organic sunflower oil, rosemary extract.

Next up was the vanilla flavour. I’m not much of a vanilla girl so I was pleasantly surprised. 

Apple Cinnamon

Ingredients: Hemp Hearts, organic coconut palm sugar, organic brown rice syrup, dried apple, cinnamon, organic apple flavour, pectin, organic sunflower oil, organic caramel flavour, rosemary extract.

Oh yum! Surprisingly the apple cinnamon flavour was my favourite. 

Right so I would totally throw these bars in my gym bag or my desk at work. They are perfect for on-the-go snacking and to keep your hunger at bay before lunch or dinner.
