So here I was flat on my back in the middle of an icy trail in the woods.
I was running along listening to the crunch of the snow under my feet until I wasn’t anymore. Yup it was that icy! I stayed down there for a few minutes to gaze at beauty around me.
I would have stayed down longer but I was nearly run over by several people on fat bikes. Those bikes are awesome. Love the wheels. Don’t worry I didn’t hurt myself. Although I will probably have a big bruise on my butt tomorrow.
I heard the trails were icy but it didn’t stop me from driving two hours to Bragg Creek. The weather was beautiful and the roads were clear. I don’t know how often I will make it to the south this winter so I wanted to take advantage of the good weather.
I just love Kananaskis Country. I haven’t been here in a couple of months. I’ve been so busy stressing over work and my exam that I stayed close to home. But now I have nothing keeping me glued to the books, I can finally get away and breath the mountain air. Today was just what I needed.
The parking lot was filled. There were skiers and fat bikers everywhere. I just love seeing all the fit individuals and families enjoying the fresh air and getting some exercise. (My car is so dirty. Must get it into the carwash pronto.)
I decided to check out the south trails. I have been on the north trails quite a bit so I was ready for a little change. This morning I got on the road quickly this morning. Translation? I slept in. I forgot my water bottle, iPod and snacks. Oops. Therefore I played it safe with a two-hour run.
I probably should have stayed on the north side. I was getting a lot of glares from the skiers. One man kept saying, “you forgot your skis or you lost your skis?” whenever he passed me.
After my run, I headed to the coffee shop to get one for the road. This little cutie was outside greeting customers. I wanted to give him a big hug but I restrained myself.
Beauty of a day to be on the trail.
So funny that you land on your butt and your journalistic nature kicks in even before you hoist yourself back up again! Ice is about the only condition I refuse to run in (on), it’s treadmill time at that point! Snow is fine though! Loved the pics!
Thanks! I’m usually more careful. You don’t have any snow!!
