Product Review: CanPrev's Core Daily Performance Shake

You know I start my day with a green smoothie. My general formula is water + greens + fruits. I add whatever is on hand whether it’s a dash of turmeric or a handful of chia or hemp hearts. Sometimes I’ll throw a plant-protein powder into the mix especially after throwing up the big (ha!) weights at crossfit.

I never pass up the opportunity to try a Made in Canada and plant-based protein. So I was excited when I was invited to try the Toronto-based company’s CanPrev’s Core Daily Performance Shake (for women).

Not only was I sent samples, I received the latest issue of Naturopathic Notes. The main article Stress: Your body under siege is definitely on my “to read” list. I loved that CanPrev offered the contact information for the in-house naturopath in case I had any questions. My sample came with a hand-written personal note too. Talk about customer service!

THE LOWDOWN
  • Vegan and Gluten-free
  • 18g of plant protein โ€“ yellow pea and brown rice protein
  • 8 servings of superfruits (cherry fruit, goji, acai, mangosteen) and vegetables (beet root, broccoli, parsley, kale, spinach etc)
  • 7g fibre
  • Every serving contains 28 vitamins and minerals
  • Pure ingredients free of dairy, soy, wheat and nuts

Wow! It sure packs a nutritional punch! CanPrev developed the shake to enhance daily nutrition, bone health, UTI support and to balance blood sugar. I’m picky when it comes to the protein source because I like to avoid soy-based proteins. (I get enough in my tofu.)

Of course the real test is the taste. I sampled the vanilla flavoured powder. Because I used it with my already green smoothie, I did not notice a difference in taste. I take that as a good thing. So many times I have tried protein or nutritional shakes that had an overpowering “uck” taste.

I give this shake a win.

Would you like to try the shake?

I have a vanilla sample for the first three people who comment below.
