Patty: I am a Runner

I know it’s been a while since I have introduced you to a runner … but today I am excited to give a shout out to Patty from Burlington.
So kick back and keep scrolling! I love Patty’s answer to #8 because I am totally in it for the pics. I have been known to jump or give the peace sign when I spot a photog. What do you do?
Name: Patty Scott
Age: 37
City: Burlington, Ontario
Profession: Piano teacher
Runner Since: 2007
1. Why did you start running? What pushes you to keep going?
I was a gym rat for a long time, until I worked at a gym where the head trainer decided we should all work out together, once a week, and included running. After awhile, I ran out of excuses to skip runs and was completely embarrassed when I had to beg for a walk break!  I keep running because: a) I never want to learn to run ever again b) I always have goals that motivate me.

2. What is your favourite distance to run? Why?
6-8K on weekdays, it’s enough to feel like I got a workout.

3. How supportive is your family supportive of your running etc?
Very, they don’t always come to races, but I run as much as I want to!
4. How do you balance running with your busy lifestyle?
Running is top priority.

5. Finish this sentence – Best piece of running advice you received ….
“Colour coordination is key.  It doesn’t matter how fast you run.  More important is how good you look doing it.” – Hal Higdon

6. Do you have any current running goals?
My current goal is to enjoy running without feeling like training is a chore, and to complete my first 50-mile race in May 2016.

7. What is the longest break you have taken from running? Why?
10 days, when my son was born.

8.  If you could tell your (less experienced) running self something, what would you say?
Dress nicer at races. There are photographers.

9. Brag time. What’s your favourite running memory?
Running a 22-minute PB at Around the Bay 30K in 2011.
