Gosh I was zonked on Saturday after my trek up Moose Mountain.

So driving around and around looking for a campsite was not fun. Everything was booked. I finally lucked out with a self-registration site in the middle of nowhere.

I don’t even know the name of the site. All I know is that I drove the longest 10 miles on a winding dirt road to secure a site. I kept thinking beggars could not be choosers. I just needed a place to pitch my tent for the night.

After a horrible sleep, I got up way too early to run. Nothing was open until 7 a.m. so I walked around Bragg Creek Provincial Park before I went to Subway for breakfast. (This was a last minute camping trip so I didn’t bring that much food.) This sign was on the ground at the park. I can only imagine what happened to the tree it was posted on.

I went back to the West Bragg Creek trails to run. My legs were feeling okay but I felt pretty groggy. (I blame lack of sleep and the drunk party-goers at the camp.) I started at the Telephone Loop and followed different offshoots of the trail.

All the people were either mountain biking or running on these trails. This trail system is absolutely beautiful. I can see why the parking lot was filled with mountain bikers. The downhills were crazy awesome.

I managed something like 15K before my legs and my spirit gave up. I say “something like” because I hit stop on my Garmin a few times to check the map and I forgot to hit start again. Don’t you hate when that happens?

The trails are definitely challenging with the constant ups and downs. But oh I would be so much stronger a runner if I ran here every day. The last bit was a definite crawl. I think the heat and Saturday’s effort was catching up with me. Still a slow run is better than a no run!
I finished my training weekend with a soak in the creek. My legs thanked me for it! Next time I can’t wait to explore more of the trail system.
Looks fun! No bears I hope.
It’s an excellent place for outdoor like fishing and mountain biking. Thanks for sharing this awesome place.
