I’m so tired right now. It’s not even 6 p.m. and I just want to sleep. I’m at a hotel in Sherwood Park. Tomorrow I will be running the Blackfoot 25K. I have mixed feelings about the race. For one I am just coming off an injury and I am super tired.
Lame. I know. I had planned running the 50K but as you know I have had to dial back my training. I am no where close to running 50K. I think 25K is pushing it but that’s another blog post.
But I was super excited to leave work early. How excited? Apparently very because I snagged a $105 speeding ticket just 4 km outside of my hotel. Thankfully the traffic cop took pity and scaled back my ticket. I was driving 25 km over the limit.
I took the scenic route along country roads to Sherwood Park. I did a U-turn in order to snap a few pics at this campground. I must go here this summer. Don’t you love it when you stumble upon random places?
After I checked in, I quickly organized my crap for the next day. I knew I had to keep moving or I would crash.
I went down to the hotel restaurant for a beer and a salad. I ate enough carbs throughout the week to get me through tomorrow’s race. But I couldn’t resist just one drink. It hit the spot.
My “say out loud” time goal is to finish under three hours. When I ran the 50K in 2013, it took me 2:45 to reach 25K. My goals have changed since I signed up last year. I refuse to get down on myself because I am not in peak training shape. I have to listen to my body and do my best at the same time. (Self help 101).
Hoorah. Let there be trail running!
