I finally set foot in my crossfit box again. Gosh it feels like it has been weeks. (It has been.) In my defence, I was resting for my 50k and giving my shoulder time to heal. And heal it did.
I felt great this morning. I was able to do the warm up and the WOD without scaling it because I had full use of my arm and shoulder. Yay! My welcome back was another rowing-based WOD. I should have known because rowing is one of my least favourite things to do.
The WOD also called for box jump-overs and 1 clean. I love box jumps. This was a jump-over so like everyone else I stepped over the box. My legs always feel nice and strong when I do these type of plyometric movements. I need to add more this winter.
I didn’t push it with the clean. Granted it was only one clean per round but it’s so easy to re-injury yourself. I managed a 75-pound power clean with little trouble. Yay. It felt great to be back sweating it out with the 6 a.m. crew.
(Oh and I lost two pounds. Whoo hoo!)
It’s that time of year where I give my body the full fall tune up. Last week I had my wisdom teeth taken out on the right side of my mouth. It still hurts like hell but the Advil is helping to curb the pain. I’ve never taken drugs before but this time I am like “gimme more.” Let me tell you it’s been a fun week.
Yesterday I had a full physical (all clear) and on Thursday I will have my eyes checked out. It’s so important to keep on top of your checkups. I don’t have a history of any diseases in my family (save for alcoholism) but you never know what can develop. Better keep on top of these things.
Have a great day!
So glad your shoulder has healed! You're right–it's important to keep up to date on everything medically (got a dental appointment next week, sigh…)
I love hearing about your Crossfit workouts! Box jumps seem like a great complement to running, I've read that plyometrics are soo good for you. And congrats on the weight loss!
Thanks it's a small loss but I will take it 🙂 Must be all that muscle. Ha ha
